eBaTT Tutorial, Playing Away from the table is an art that must also be worked on and developed over time. In this video, we aim to show you the three main defensive strokes that can be played and implemented in a game. We are showing you the strokes briefly and providing a quick explanation of each stoke. In the future, we will be providing in-depth tutorials for each stroke demonstrated.
Tip 1.
Chopping away from the table, you can use the forehand but we strongly suggest to use the backhand to chop and get yourself back into the table. Why we suggest mainly a backhand chop, will be explained in future tutorials.
Tip 2.
Fishing or Apple-ing, this is a positive defensive play where you impart topspin at height and depth that makes it difficult for the opponent to aggressively smash and can draw them away from the table. This stroke can also be used to retrieve many balls and possibly make your opponent lose patients and incur unforced errors.
Tip 3.
High lob, we suggest this as a last resort and one that must be executed properly otherwise the chances of winning the point are very slim. The main aim of a high lob is to make the ball bounce very high with lots of topspin and very deep on the opponent's side. This will give you more time and make it harder for them to smash at full pace. Potentially you can create an unforced error or find a weak smash to counter-attack.
