Before flight range test, please review the followings to avoid losing drone:
1. Battery module must be full and not much used (less than 10 charge cycles). Battery aging (deterioration) starts from first time flight, and battery power will be reduced every flight.
2. Auto return home (RTH) may not be used to avoid obstacle objects, if drone does not have obstacle avoidance sensor (like DJI drones). Try not to use Headless mode for power saving.
3. Testing must be taken place at open wide field for just in case of unknown battery life and no radio interference. Each battery module has the intelligence battery management board (judging low-batter by voltage-drop), which most makers are not disclosed due to unpredictable chemical reaction by temperature, usage at full throttle/half …
4. Avoid to record video at drone’s MicroSD (recording video is not easy task for power management), and record video/photo at smartphone.
5. Always check flight distance and battery remain-level, range test is how to manage battery wisely. If battery does not have enough power to return home, drone will be crashing down.
