I bought this part to replace the OEM poppet style valves and upgrade them to this MPFI on my '00 blazer. This unit came pre assembled with its own fuel pressure regulator. This was to fix a cold start issue that I was having with the old poppets. The blazer ran and started better than it ever did, even in 0F temperatures! But after under 100 miles of driving with this new assembly, my truck started missing and died at a stoplight. The engine has locked up after driving 1/8 of a mile. I towed it home and realized that cylinder 5 (driver side closest to firewall) has filled with fuel and hydrolocked. I removed all spark plugs and turned the engine to blow out the fuel. Then I attached my compression gauge to check for damage. After 2 revolutions, the engine again locked up. There was so much fuel shooting into that cylinder that it hydrolocked again incredibly fast! It also destroyed my compression tester. What had happened is the fuel pressure regulator that Standard Motor had pre installed has completely failed in less that 100 miles! All the fuel is now shooting out of the ambient vacuum tube and directly into the intake! I called Standard Motors about the defective piece of their unit and asked if the could replace just the regulator as the top of the engine will need to be taken apart further to remove the MPFI assembly (the injector ends don't simply unclip). They said they wouldn't do anything as it was ordered from Amazon and to contact them. Much to Amazon's credit, they agreed that it is not necessary to return the whole unit for a piece of it being defective, so they credited me 40 dollars to order a new regulator! Amazon is awesome in this regard! How is it that Standard Motor won't stand behind their parts, and Amazon is the voice or reason? Also, how insane is it for a fuel regulator to fail so fast? Now due to this, I have a broken compression tester, had to get towed, have to spend time waiting for a replacement part, and have to tear my truck apart once more. Buy AC Delco or something else other than this for your 4.3.
