Dissociative identity disorder, commonly referred to as multiple personality disorder, is a unique mental illness that has puzzled doctors in every field. While we understand more about the disorder today than we did a century ago, there are still many questions yet to have been answered. Additionally, many people believe that patients claiming to suffer from the disorder are lying to save themselves from trouble. This is especially common when it comes to criminals. In many cases, professionals evaluate serial criminals and confirm their claims of having “D.I.D”.
