Everyone in the pop-punk scene knows it’s a prerequisite for bands to be just as capable in intimate, acoustic settings as they are at throwing their bodies into mosh pits. Being royalty in the genre, All Time Low are the kings of gettin’ it done both ways. With origins that travel all the way back to suburban Baltimore high school days, the boys have mastered the chameleon-like musicianship inherent to that mid aughts emo vibe. Just listen to “Some Kind of Disaster,” the band’s first new song in three years. In the recorded version, choruses climax with massive guitar fuzz and drum fills - portending incoming stage dives. But in the studio, the song takes on a wholly different feel - teetering towards a self-effacing Irish drinking-song style. After almost two decades together, the spirit of synchronization is pretty much second nature no matter how they choose to spin their web.
