It's Only the Beginning: A Look at Listos California's Work To Date

Governor Gavin Newsom and the California Legislature gave us a mandate in 2019 to ensure the most vulnerable residents of this state are prepared for disasters such as wildfire, earthquake or flood. We have since hit the ground running and have accomplished a lot since the launch of Listos California in August 2019. Take a look at some of the highlights from our work to date, and stay tuned as our mission has only just begun. We are committed to reaching over one million diverse and vulnerable Californians by the end of 2020 and we won’t stop until that goal has been surpassed.

Listos California, a campaign to boost community resiliency through disaster preparedness, is partnering with effective and trusted volunteer and service teams, including CERT (Community Emergency Response Team), an 8 hour training program available in English and Spanish called "Listos," AmeriCorps, AmeriCorps NCCC and Fire Safe Councils. Together, we are empowering people who have been hard to reach, or socially isolated all across the state by giving them the right type of support to safeguard themselves, their families, and their communities from the next disaster that might strike.
