Zoomers vs The Typical Blood Test Commonly Used

Zoomers vs The Typical Blood Test Commonly Used When you go to a doctor you get a standard blood test & exam, you get a test from the 1970s and they haven't added much to it since if any at all.

ZOOMERS refers to a series of blood tests that are looking for food sensitivities and zoom in on a problem like no other tests that we've ever seen before.

Most of us expect that when a doctor does a blood test that it tells the information they're looking for.

What is not common knowledge is most of the blood tests are 20-30 or more years old. When you go to a doctor you get a standard blood test & exam, you get a test from the 1970s and they haven't added much to it since if any at all. It also depends on the laboratory that the doctor is using.

So, the first thing is: older technology- which is not bad in itself. There are valuable markers to look at. But science advances and improves, we learn about new markers.

The second thing is the accuracy of the test. We expect that the tests the doctors give us are right on the money. Unfortunately, that's not true. Most of the tests out there today are somewhere around 70% of sensitivity and specificity. Some are in the 80% percentile range which means they are correct 7 or 8 out of 10 times, but they're wrong 2 or 3 out of 10 times. The doctor has no way to know if the test is right or not. Sometimes doctors will do two tests to be sure and then the second test comes back completely different than the first. So you're left with a bunch of confusion.

It was January of 2016 that Michelle sent me a message: “You won't believe this, look at this paper about a test that just came out!.” It was from Dr. Joe Murry at Mayo Clinic who is one of the four horsemen of celiac disease, one of the greats in the field. He and his team had just published a paper about a “new era in laboratory medicine.” That was their language, at Mayo Clinic, a new era in laboratory medicine.

The sensitivity and specificity of these new tests are 97% to 100%. That means every single time, on the money without exception. These blood tests could look at hundreds and hundreds of markers in one blood test because it’s silicon chip technology.

When I read the paper I couldn't believe it. I immediately called the laboratory that was listed on the paper that Dr. Murry was writing about. I said, “I want to speak to the president.” So he gets on the line and I say, “Hi, this is Dr. Tom O'Bryan. And he says “THE Dr. Tom O’Bryan. I said, “oh I don’t know, maybe in the world of wheat! Is this your test?” "Yes, yes," he says and he invited me to come visit the lab. The next week I was up there and they took me on a tour. You have to put a spacesuit when you go in there because it’s silicon chip technology. The room must be dust-free and as clean as clean can be. It was quite amazing.

So for the last 4 years now, Michelle and I have been singing the praises of these tests and talking about them. We’ve now done hundreds of them with patients. We’ve trained hundreds of doctors also, maybe a few thousand doctors at my speaking engagements. Michelle is doing interpretations and teaching doctors how to read these tests. Sometimes we invite our clients to bring their doctors to their virtual appointments as Michelle goes through the interpretation. The doctors can ask questions, etc.

They are quite a remarkable game-changer because now you get accurate information every single time.
