At a time when Shillong is tense following the recent incidents of violence in the state capital and Shella, the Meghalaya Governor has compared the situation of the non-tribals in the state to that of Kashmiri Pandits back in 1991. Talking to media-persons in Shillong today, Roy said the current law and order situation in the city gave an impression that the non-tribal population is a thoroughly demoralised lot with their position similar to that of Kashmiri pundits in the 90s.
Informing about his meeting with the ministers and the state civil servants, the Governor said that he has told urged them to restore normalcy and also the morale of the non-tribal population.
