Lyrics:
You're leaning into the mirror
Stepping out and the sidewalks bloom
Shoeless mosses and heather
Feels like your Gaynor Mindens do
Guilty of guilt, and sick of the sickness
Heart like a jury trying to convict us
But your Midtown blouses are covered in sequins
For God's sake, you can dance it out with your
Smoky sunrise Geranium eyes
Remember, we never forget how to fly
Smoky sunrise
Smoky sunrise in your eyes
And I wouldn't blame you
Your mother needs a call or a calling out
And she can't forgive you
But you've been learning to forgive yourself
Guilty of guilt, and sick of the sickness
Heart like a jury trying to convict us
But your Midtown blouses are covered in sequins
For God's sake, you can dance it out with your
Smoky sunrise Geranium eyes
Remember, we never forget how to fly
Smoky sunrise
Smoky sunrise in your eyes

About Josh Turner Guitar
Josh began making YouTube videos in 2007. Ranging from popular to esoteric, local to far flung, and playful to serious, Josh’s videos offer a little something for everyone. Josh also performs regularly with long-time collaborator, Carson McKee, as the folk duo The Other Favorites. Josh’s first full-length solo album, As Good A Place As Any, was released in April 2019.
Equipment/Techniqes:
Guitar is a MIM fender telecaster with Fender Vintage Noiseless Pickups
into a Zoom G1Xon, into a Zoom H6.
Vocal recorded on the H6's 90 degree stereo mic.
In Pro Tools, a Valhalla Plate and Valhalla Space Modulator hit the guitar.
Plate hits the vocal as well, and the Waves F6 and PuigChild 670. The H6 mics have too much high end for my taste. Attenuate and saturate.
Waves J37 on each channel and the master.
Filmed on a Canon EOS R with a 35mm f/1.8. Colored in Premiere.
